3rd graders have been hard at work learning how to use their Google Accounts and all the different apps.
1.  They created a new Google doc
2.  They typed using different fonts, sizes and colors information about a Massachusetts state symbol (information from their SS book)
3.  They learned what copy and paste means and then practiced it.
4.  They learned what wordart is and they used the website wordart.com to practice making wordart
5.  They created the final wordart by copying and pasting their MA state document words into wordart and creating a cool shape and adding color.
6. Enjoy the slideshow of all their hard work.

The October Wolfy News is finally finished.  Watch and enjoy all the Open Pantry and Halloween pictures!

Friday, November 3, 2017

2nd graders are learning to create animation by taking many pictures of very small changes.  They are using the Stop Motion app on the iPads and are taking up to 50 pictures.  Here is an example of a jack-o-lantern family.

Thursday, November 2, 2017

After listening to The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, the Kindergarteners used Doodle Buddy to draw their own caterpillar eating something delicious.  Mrs. Dufraine put their pictures into iMovie. We added a voiceover to explain exactly what their caterpillars were eating.  Please enjoy their hard work.

Several of the 3rd graders are trying out an iPad app that uses the cool green in my classroom.  It is called DoInk.

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

The kindergarten students listened to the "Rainbow Fish" online book and tried their hand at drawing a rainbow fish using the drawing app Doodle Buddy.

A wonderful video showing the students practicing for their Wax Museum project!

One of the last efforts of the 5th graders! Great job!

Newest Wolf Swamp Review!  After a crashed teacher computer, we have worked hard to make a new TV show.  More to come soon!

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

The 1st graders have been reading books and writing book reviews about their favorite book!  Mrs. Holmes' class filmed theirs in technology so we used the green screen and iPad to video them.  They worked cooperatively to have a partner hold the microphone for them,  while they concentrated on reading their book review.  Great job, 1st graders!

The TIES, Technology in Education Showcase, was a great success yesterday evening.  We had over 300 visitors, per our visitor counter, and the students were excellent presenters of their littleBits creations.  Here is a short video about the event:

Here is a slideshow with several of the TIES events from our wonderful school, Wolf Swamp Road!! Enjoy

Today, we used our Makey Makey circuit boards again. This time we checked out more items to see if they were conductors or insulators.  We used bananas, lemons, limes, potatoes and all the items from last week including Play-doh!  It was certainly a fun and exciting learning time for all.

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The 5th graders are starting a great unit using the Makey Makey boards.  Makey Makey's are circuit boards that connect to the computer for power.  Then the students make circuits using all types of connective items.  We tried out all types of items yesterday, to discover which were conductors and which were insulators.  Here is a short video showing the hands on learning.

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

The 4th graders tried out new robots today in technology.  Using the the Blockly and Blockly, Jr. apps they tried out "Dot" and "Dash". The students had to create programs to move Dash's body,and/or head and to change colors of both robots along with introducing various sounds!

Congratulations 5th graders on the completion of another TV show, The Wolf Swamp Review.  Please enjoy it.

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Static Electricity is certainly a concept that we all understand.  We will be starting to learn about circuit board using Makey Makey circuit boards and need to understand the differences between conductors and insulators.  Just a fun way to begin.

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

4th graders have been building with Lego WeDo's, and have created some super projects.  Using the WeDo software program we animated them using the iPad app "Green Screen by DoInk".  The first movie shows the student's working on the projects and the final two are the green screen animations!

The 5th graders have been creating Timelines showing their favorite books, from Kindergarten until now.  This has been a collaborative lesson from both library and technology.  They used the ReadWriteThink website and took pictures of the books using the Chrome Books.  They learned how to use the camera, save the pictures to their Google Drive and create the timelines.  Great project, and here is a Google Slideshow of some of their hard work.

The third graders are learning to be programmers.  They are learning the Scratch language from MIT and the first lesson was on choosing backgrounds, sprites and animating the letters of their name.  Here are some examples.

What fun, what fun.  Today the 4th graders continued on their quest of inventing with Little Bits.  They created bubbles and created motorized drawing devices using their very creative minds and the Little Bits circuitry.  Congrats to the great working and non-working projects, failure is part of the STEAM process!Enjoy the video

Fun video to watch about circuits.  This was the introduction to electricity and circuits sent through Google classroom to students.  Fun!

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

The students are learning a lot about circuits and this week we learned about movement, with different types of motors and using the fan for spin action.  The 4th graders created waving hands and spinning wheels.  Enjoy their hard work and fun.

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

The 1st graders are hoping for snow so they can build actual snowmen.  But in technology, they used the Doodle Buddy iPad app worked very hard to draw some very good looking snow"people".

Thursday, January 26, 2017

Using the iPad App - Stop Motion - the 2nd graders tried their hand at animation.  They used black construction paper, white circles and markers to create "Snowmen"!  Please enjoy their hard work.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

The 4th graders worked at making flashlights with the Little Bits today.  Each table came up with a plan for design and creation. Then we turned out the lights to see our flashlights work.  Great day!

The 1st graders have been hard at work creating "How To" writing using the iPad app Pic Collage. They wrote their sentences on paper and then typed them into Pic Collage.  Then they took pictures of themselves and friends to illustrate their project.  Enjoy the Google Slideshow showing some of their hard work.

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

The 4th graders today received a introduction about using Little Bits circuitry.  Little Bits creates electronics with snap together magnets.  They are powered by 9 volt batteries and then you add your inputs and outputs to create fun buzzer noises, lights and moving objects. We will start some projects using the Little Bits and craft items soon!  Enjoy the excitement.

Thursday, January 5, 2017

The second grade classes are finishing up their try with green screen technology.  We used the DOINK green screen iPad app, picked their flags as backgrounds, and worked in "heritage" groups to create a short video.  I put them into an iMovie for the students to enjoy.

We had a wonderful Winter Festival with Mrs. Westhaver, so hope you enjoy watching the iMovie that I was able to create with the footage.  It was simply wonderful and the students were wonderfully behaved and engaged in the music.
